The Devops / Infrastructure Engineer for Tacit Knowledge, a global digital commerce consultancy specializing in software development and optimization, will leverage hands on experience to create robust, cost-efficient environments that support our developers and clients. Your work will be varied and challenging as you partner with our consultants, clients, and senior management to assess and address their needs, employing some of the latest technologies. As an Devops / Infrastructure Engineer for Tacit Knowledge, you will be responsible for delivering software and hardware solutions in the following areas:

  • Automated system provisioning, configuration, and application deployment
  • System security implementations, reviews, and recommendations for commercial customers
  • Leading performance tuning, troubleshooting, and diagnosis at the system, platform, and virtual machine levels
  • Platform infrastructure reviews, risk analyses, recommendations, and capacity planning
  • Development project automation and environment promotion support
  • In-house consulting expertise for communication with clients, project leads and software developers across multiple projects
  • Delivering solutions on HaaS cloud systems


The Devops / Infrastructure Engineer skills and experience you will bring to Tacit Knowledge will include:

  • 6+ years experience in networked software configuration and operation
  • Proficiency in writing shell and/or ruby scripts that combine loops and conditional statements
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Ruby and Perl
  • Experience translating logical system architectures into detailed physical architecture designs
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as cfengine, chef, or puppet
  • Experience with managing and hosting software packaging infrastructure such as Yum
  • Familiarity with application compilation and packaging utilities such as make, ant, maven, rake, RPM, etc.
  • Troubleshooting issues that range from packet loss to load balancing within a cluster and down application server (such as JBoss or Tomcat) configuration
  • Experience with both physical and virtual infrastructure such as EC2 or VMware
  • Familiarity applying build tools such as Ant or Maven to continuous integration solutions such as Jenkins or TeamCity
  • Experience establishing and maintaining basic monitoring and operational procedures for high volume production systems
  • Basic experience applying diagnostic techniques to RDBMS servers
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with senior management, clients and other consultants


  • Well-versed in capacity planning, capacity analysis, and high availability risk evaluations leading to hardware specification
  • Experience implementing production setup of enterprise-grade production solutions
  • Familiarity with typical operational processes applied at managed service providers, escalation approaches, and support levels
  • Experience in a professional consulting environment
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
